Abstract

Theatre in Prison: The Dramaturgy of Prison as a Theatrical Setting is a research project that developed out of the experimentation of the devising of a play about the experience of prison and featured prisoners from Lemos Brito Penitentiary, in Rio de Janeiro as actors.

Author Biography

Maria de Lourdes Naylor Rocha, Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO)

Profa. Dra. aposentada da Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO). Pesquisou a linguagem teatral dentro de seus princípios artísticos e educacionais desde 1977. Formada em Direção UNIRIO, recebeu diploma de Mestrado em Teatro Educação pela Universidade de Nova York NYU (EUA); e de Doutorado, pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Teatro da PPGT da UNIRIO, com a tese Teatro na Prisão: a dramaturgia da prisão em cena. Por 12 anos coordenou o projeto de extensão da UNIRIO Teatro na Prisão – uma experiência pedagógica na construção do sujeito em direção à cidadania, juntamente com a Profa. Natália Ribeiro Fiche.
