Abstract

The article addresses how social innovations are changing the lives of people and communities, with a focus on sustainability, requiring changes in ways of life to preserve the environment and society. The objective is to present social innovation and sustainability initiatives in fashion, promoted by the Mulheres Mil Program in partnership with the Fashion Revolution movement, through a photo contest. The research reflects on the autonomy and quality of life of socially vulnerable women. analysis of the captured images, organized into categories such as affection, identity and trust. The results show that these images provided interpretations about the social and questioned who can speak for “others”. female empowerment, in addition to encouraging entrepreneurship and conscious consumption."

Márcio Soares Lima, IFMA - Instituto Federal do Maranhão

Doutorando do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Design – UFSC em Florianópolis/SC. Mestra em Design pela Universidade Federal do Maranhão (2016 - 2018). Graduado em Design de Moda pela UNINOVAFAPI – Pi.

He holds a degree in Sanitary Engineering from the Federal University of Mato Grosso (1998), a master's degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (1995) and a doctorate in production engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2000). . He is currently a professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina and coordinates the NASDESIGN-Center for Systemic Approach to Design. He has experience in the design area, focusing on design and social innovation, particularly with information and sustainability of products and processes. Participates in postgraduate design programs at UFSC. He is part of the group of INEP/MEC evaluators. He is head of the research group on the systemic approach to design and a researcher at CNPq. Post-doctorate at the Federal University of Mato Grosso Sul in Environmental Technology in the Geoprocessing Laboratory for Environmental Applications using drones. He has a doctorate in production engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2000). He is currently a professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina and coordinates the NASDESIGN-Center for Systemic Approach to Design. He has experience in the design area, focusing on design and social innovation.

Raquel Gomes Noronha, FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF MARANHÃO

Raquel Noronha is a designer (ESDI-UERJ, 2001), master (PPGCSoc-UFMA, 2008) and doctorate (PPCIS-UERJ, 2015) in Social Sciences. Associate professor at the Federal University of Maranhão, permanent professor of the Postgraduate Program in Design/UFMA, of which she was coordinator between 2020 and 2022. Leader of NIDA - Center for research in innovation, design and anthropology (CNPq), develops research in areas of participatory methodologies, design-materials-craft relationship, gender and power. She was a visiting researcher (2018) at the Knowing From the Inside (KFI) Project, coordinated by Prof. Tim Ingold, at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. Between 2019 and 2022, she was Regional Advisor for Latin America in the Gender Design in STEAM Program, funded by IRDC, led by Carleton University (CA). She is currently a member of PROCAD-AM Creative communities and local knowledge, promoted by UFMA in partnership with the Postgraduate Design programs at UEMG and UFPR and is a founding member of RELADyG - Latin American Design and Gender Network. Research productivity scholarship PQ2 CNPq 2024-2027. He works as a reviewer for the magazines Estudos em Design, Design Culture, SDRJ, Arcos Design, Creación y Pensamiento, Tríades. In 2022, research results were awarded first place in the 15 Years of Public Policies for Women in Maranhão Award, promoted by the Maranhão State Secretariat for Women and FAPEMA, in the Productive Autonomy category.
