Esta entrevista foi cedida, inicialmente, para o projeto de Doutorado intitulado Aparência e poder, defendido com sucesso no ano seguinte pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, no Programa de Pós-Graduação em História. Posteriormente ela foi atualizada tendo em vista o projeto de pesquisa da entrevistadora chamado Colunismo em Santa Catarina a construção de uma sociedade de moda. O objetivo nesta última versão foi de contextualizar o papel exercido pelo colunista Zury Machado, segundo sua própria narrativa, na construção do colunismo social em Santa Catarina, especialmente no caso das eleições anuais das dez senhoras mais elegantes da região.
