Abstract

This “essay at the dark” brings philosophical and artistic reflections on the dark and shadow as axes of creation, and not light in the foreground as commonly occurs. We revisited our writings from years ago and, like someone groping an unknown space, we elaborated personal reflections on creative processes, quotes and images about why we consider the dark as the protagonist of our works. As light designer and shadow puppeteers, our research dialogues directly with our artistic practices and here, as in a creative memorial, we record our perspectives as in a written dialogue, seeking to register common paths and issues yet to be explored.

Tuany Fagundes Rausch, Santa Catarina State University

Atriz, Pesquisadora e Professora. Mestra em Artes Cênicas pela UFU (Universidade Federal de Uberlândia) (2018 a 2020). Graduada em Licenciatura e Bacharelado em Teatro na UDESC (Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina) (2011 a 2015). Desde 2014, integrante e co-fundadora da entreAberta Cia Teatral, com foco na investigação e criação de obras teatrais em teatro de formas animadas, mais especificamente em teatro de sombras. Professora de Artes no ensino público estadual de Belo Horizonte/MG, para Anos Finais do Ensino Fundamental e EJA (Ensino de Jovens e Adolescentes) (2019). Principais áreas de interesse para atuação e pesquisa: teatro de formas animadas, construção de silhuetas e bonecos e processos criativos.

Daniele Rocha Viola, Santa Catarina State University

She is an actress-performer, illuminator, mask-maker-sound artist, and researcher in animation theater. She has a master's degree in theater from Santa Catarina State University (UDESC). She has a BA in Physical Education from the University of São Paulo (USP) and in Scenic Arts from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). She is part of Cia. Libélulas since its foundation (2014), in which she has participated in productions with various languages, among them are: "Sombras do interior: Tracks expressed in images (2021)" the lambe-lambe show When Flowers Fall, premiered in December 2018, with circulation through the city of Florianópolis (3rd Pro-Vocation 2019 - UNIMA/ABTB; CEART Open to the community - UDESC; TUM sound Festival; Free Presentation in Santo Antônio de Lisboa; Mostra FINTA), and was selected for the 3rd Bonencontro (2019) along with a miniature shadow theater workshop (Itajaí/SC); À Flor das Peles, composed by the languages of shadow theater, objects and performance, was presented at the UFSC Arts Department, at Ceart Open to the Community and selected for Tudanzas (Spain - 2019); [ParaAlémDas] GAiOLaS was a performative theater show that has been in Florianopolis' programming (8th Strangoloscope at MIS, at SESC-SC, 13th Women's World and Doing Gender 11) and in Fafe/Portugal (II Feira de Teatro de Bonecos e Formas Animadas); O Príncipe Feliz, a play in the languages of shadows, masks and objects that also circulated around Florianópolis in schools and social assistance institutions, was part of the 23rd Isnard Azevedo Festival and the 3rd FITA Colloquium (International Animation Theater Festival). She works in the areas of Stage Lighting, Performance Theater, Shadow Theater, Masks, Lambe Lambe and Acting. She worked as an illuminator in productions in Ouro Preto (MG) and Florianópolis (SC). She participated in the short film Picadeiro Urbano (2018) as an actress. She is a member of Teatro de Sobras (Ribeirão Preto). She participated in the research group on neutral and larval masks, with Grupo Abaporu (2014 - 2016). The main/most recent courses were at the Mask Research Center (SP, 2019) with Fernando Martins; Initial and Continued Training Course in Lambe-Lambe by IFSC (SC, 2018). She also took the Theatrical Biomechanics workshop with Marcelo Bulgarelli (PR, 2014); and other courses in the area of animation theater (shadow, body puppets and objects), voice and visual theater.
