Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The contribution is original and unpublished, and it is not under evaluation for publication in another journal; otherwise, it must be justified in the "Comments to the Editor" section.
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, or RTF format.
- URLs for references have been provided when possible.
- In the case of submission to a peer-reviewed section (e.g., articles), two files must be submitted: one with author identification and another without. In the anonymous file, ensure that no author identification is present in the text or file properties, guaranteeing the Double-Blind Peer Review.
- All authors must have contributed significantly to the work, and no author will be added after the article is approved—except in exceptional cases.
- The text follows the style guidelines and bibliographic requirements described in the Author Guidelines, available on the About the Journal page.
- Only individually authored articles by holders of a doctoral degree will be accepted. Doctoral and master's students who wish to publish individually or in co-authorship with a PhD holder who is not their advisor must provide a letter from their advisor acknowledging and approving the submission, or publish the article in co-authorship with their advisor. Master's degree holders may only publish in co-authorship with a PhD holder. Undergraduate students may submit articles only if they are participating in a scientific initiation program, and must co-author the article with a PhD supervisor, indicating their academic degree and initiation project details at the end of the article.
- Undergraduate students affiliated with research groups and/or university extension programs or projects, with or without a scholarship, who wish to submit research reports, must do so in co-authorship with PhD holders.

The State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC), governed by Normative Instruction No. 18, dated December 2, 2019, establishes guidelines for the use of anti-plagiarism software. Specifically: files will be submitted for content similarity verification through anti-plagiarism software, to be evaluated and approved by the scientific journals that comprise the UDESC Journal Portal. Scientific articles must first undergo peer review and editorial evaluation. The similarity check will be conducted only after the manuscript is accepted for publication by the editor. The report generated by the anti-plagiarism software will serve as an indicator of the similarity level, assisting in the detection of plagiarism. The higher the similarity percentage, the greater the likelihood of plagiarism. Properly cited quotations and references, in accordance with technical standards, may be disregarded from the analysis. This journal is a member of the Similarity Check, an initiative launched by Crossref that brings together several journals with the goal of protecting the originality of published content.
Similarity Check uses the iThenticate software to detect overlaps and similarities between submitted manuscripts and previously published materials from other sources.
By depositing all our content into the Similarity Check database, we enable other editors to compare their submitted manuscripts against previously published content.
