Resumo

A comunicação a seguir tenta mostrar, fazendo uma análise da filosofia da experiência de John Dewey, que algumas dicotomias seriam infundadas. Essas dicotomias nos fazem ver o conhecimento científico, a ética, a estética e as questões da ordem social como setores com algumas áreas periféricas em conflito, mas essencialmente separadas. Dewey nos oferece uma maneira diferente de olhar para essa questão, aplicando métodos científicos às ciências humanas e sociais. A reconstrução da experiência por Dewey permitiu-lhe dar um passo importante para restabelecer a continuidade transacional e, assim, mostrar como os julgamentos práticos e teóricos, apesar de todas as suas diferenças, podem ser reduzidos ao mesmo padrão comum. Portanto, julgamentos de valor paradigmáticos são capazes de ser racionalmente experimentalmente garantidos, assim como julgamentos de conseqüências de meios. A reconstrução da experiência, portanto, é o que permite a Dewey unir teoria (e seus julgamentos) e prática (com os seus), encurtando a diferença entre ciência, arte e moralidade, além de estabelecer pontes de contato entre elas.
